From time to time, WTSC runs a beginners course to introduce new members to the sport. This course is run by Geoff, our resident Coach, (and our God), with assistance from our Club Instructors. These courses run for two hours, one day a week for six weeks, and comprise one hour of instruction and one hour of range work each week. At the end of the six weeks, we have a (fairly simple) test and then we formally invite the graduates to join the club (and usually, we try to arrange things so that we have some sort of club social event around the same time to introduce them to everyone and congratulate them). We provide all the kit that the beginners need, as well as small goodybags with the little bit of personal kit they require (notebooks, earplugs, headbands, that sort of thing). Given the size of our range, we can generally only take on six people per course.
And as we can only take on six people per course, and we had requests for a course from seven people, we are going to be running two courses simultaneously over the next six weeks, one starting at 10am on Saturday and the other starting at 11am on Saturday. So there are five places available for anyone who's interested. The cost of the course (in case you were wondering), is €60, and they're starting this Saturday, June 6th.
Interested? If so, please email me at

Time for some serious training!
UCDRC will be running a Summer Air League (SAL) for the summer and autumn of 2009. It will be a seven match hybrid competition between Sunday 7th of June and Sunday 27th of September 2009. This works out as a gap of three weeks between the first five matches and a gap of two weeks between the last three. The full list of dates is shown below.
In order to facilitate as many people as possible, the SAL is to be run as a hybrid postal competition. This will enable those who are unable to attend individual SAL matches to submit postal results. In this hybrid scheme we will require that at least three of the seven matches are shot in the UCD Range over the four month period, while the remainder can be submitted by post. All matches to be shot to ISSF rules.
Results will be based onto aggregate score of all seven matches with prizes given for at least first place in each class, with second and third place prizes awarded depending on numbers in each class.
A fee of €80 for Adults and €60 for students for the total SAL.
Dates :
SAL 1 scheduled for Sunday 7 June 2009 Location: UCD Rifle Range
SAL 2 scheduled for Sunday 28 June 2009 Location: UCD Rifle Range
SAL 3 scheduled for Sunday 19 July 2009 Location: UCD Rifle Range
SAL 4 scheduled for Sunday 9 August 2009 Location: UCD Rifle Range
SAL 5 scheduled for Sunday 30 August 2009 Location: UCD Rifle Range

Before this weekends highly anticipated BBQ, the club could do with a good clean up. A few of us are going over this evening and of course everyone is welcome to join us, many hands make light work. Even if you can't make tonight, but can spare a couple of hours before the weekend, I am sure there will be something for you to do. Lets entice new members this weekend with a nice clean club. |

We are delighted to announce our upcoming BBQ and family day out next Saturday the 23rd of May. Fun starts at 4.00pm and includes what is going to be a very fun open to all 10 metre air rifle competition with some fantastic medals and other prizes to be won. No experience is necessary as we will have club instructors on hand so you can get straight in to the action. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes and facepainting for the kids. Our last BBQ was a great success with plenty of fun had by all, it also ran well into the evening for a equally great night as well!
See you all there!
